A little trouble in the kiln. My green glaze was too thick and ran onto a couple of shelves! Other than that, there are some nice looking cups and business card holders in this batch.

April 3rd, 2009Demonstration at East End Urban Market
March 29th, 2009There was a lot going on today. After coaching my son’s soccer game, I headed over to the East End Urban Market. I setup there to do a throwing demonstration.

I also attracted some younger onlookers.

These rice bowls were done using wax resist to paint the designs. I used my glazes to create 5 different patterns over the wax resist. Bowls are $15 each and include the chopsticks.
Setup at East End Urban Market
March 16th, 2009Scott and I are setup at the East End Urban Market most Saturdays when we are not somewhere else. Here are some pics.

Scott and I posing with the back display. All boxes and shelves were constructed from used wood fence. The used fence is strong and light weight. The boxes are used to transport the pottery. When the boxes are emptied I stack them up and lay the shelves across them. I can fit my boxes and shelves in my Chevy Venture.
Fresh out of the kiln 3-16-09
March 16th, 2009It’s spring break for me as a teacher. I fired the kiln last night and these items came out.

All these pots were glazed with the clear over natural clay on the bottom and the Jade Green glaze on top. The first jar was double dipped in the glaze causing the drips. Prices are not set yet but will be in the $30 to $45 range.
Ike proof pottery
March 14th, 2009Simply Art Gallery in Galveston carried my pottery. When Ike hit Galveston, 9 feet of water swirled like a washing machine inside the gallery. Most of the artwork was lost. However, the owners dug through the mud and muck and pulled out some pottery that survived. They returned around 15 pieces back to me… still covered in dried slime.

Now the question is… what in the world should I do with this stuff? If you have any ideas, let me know.
The Crow’s Nest in La Porte
March 14th, 2009If you make it to La Porte Texas, look up the Crow’s Nest Gallery. It has a wonderful mixture of bronze sculptures, paintings, jewlery and some very cool Indian head-dresses. Oh yea, they have some nice pottery as well.
The Crow’s Nest is located in a residential area. You won’t just happen upon it. You will have to know where you are going. Look them up at www.crowsnestartgallery.com

Scott and I working hard
March 10th, 2009Scott is a great friend who often works with me at the shows. It is incredible how much time and effort he gives me just to spend some good friendship time together. He is also very instrumental in providing new ideas for products and display.
